The CDC recently updated mask guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals. People can now go maskless and resume normal activities as they did before the pandemic, with some exceptions. These new guidelines are somewhat confusing, but they’re one of the first signs that normal life is coming back!
As a business owner, you may still be weighing the pros and cons of removing masks. It’s up to you to make the decision that aligns with your needs. But if you are ready to take off the masks, you might still want to make sure that your indoor air quality is high.
Now that we know COVID-19 thrives in indoor spaces with poor airflow, it’s best to make sure the air quality at your business is top-notch. Here are a few cleaning tips we recommend that can help improve your air quality.
- Get your vents, furnace, and AC filters cleaned. The circulating air systems in your business are really great at spreading dust, mold spores, bacteria, and viruses. Regular cleaning of vents, air ducts, and filters can remove these contaminants before they spread around the building.
- Stay on top of dusting. Dust is full of bacteria, germs, and even bits of human skin! It accumulates everywhere. It’s easy to stay on top of the visible dust you can see, but don’t forget to pull out furniture, wash curtains, and clean in all the nooks and crannies where it accumulates as well.
- Clean your fans. Now that the weather is warming up, you may be pulling your fans out of storage to improve the airflow at your business. Before you turn your fans on, make sure to take the guards off and clean the blades. Otherwise, you’re just spreading dust around the room!
- Clean your windows and window sills. Dirty windows not only look bad, they can be a source of dust and particles. Make sure to clean the window tracks and sills to get all the dust and dirt from outside. Take out the screens and clean them too!
- Dust off your plants. Indoor plants are a great way to improve the air quality in your business or home. Plants naturally give off oxygen and clean the air, but only if you show them some love. Dust piles up on the leaves of indoor plants, so every few weeks, make sure that you use a wet cloth and gently wash them off. You can give them a quick shower in the bathtub too!
It’s not easy to navigate life during COVID-19, and hopefully, we won’t have too much longer. The signs that life is returning to normal are everywhere, and the new mask guidelines are one of them. If you’re ready to embrace life after COVID-19, follow all the safety guidelines and do everything you can to keep your business safe and clean for you and your customers. We’re here to help if you need it!
